That's better.... but not great

I went out for a 4 mile run yesterday to hopefully erase the memory of my heavy-leg run on Sunday. I certainly didn't feel the way I did Sunday (thankfully). But, my pace left a little something to be desired. I was pushing pretty good to see how I felt and could only manage my minimum goal pace for the 4 miler. I wasn't trying to race or anything. But, I felt taxed at the end of the run. So... not sure what to think for the half this weekend.

I am going to run again on Thursday or Friday (2 miles) and that is it before the half. That way, my legs are as rested as possible. Despite the fact that I don't feel that fit, you can't make up fitness in one run. It is what it is....

Run recap- 4 miles, 35:07, 8:47 pace

Hey, Eric - just wanted to wish you good luck with the half. I'm sure you'll do well.

Thanks, I appreciate it. We're getting close. I'm looking at this as a ramp up race now. But, I still want a good time.

Try throwing in a few 40-50 meter pickups in your next run towards the end. Nothing all-out, more like a 80-90% effort.

I think I can help here...

Dude I am gonna OWN you out there! You will be begging me to drop the pace, BEGGING!

Ahem...motivated? :)

I won't really be all that motivated till race day. But, I think you've got me. That kick can only help me if I'm there with you at mile 13. That's questionable.

Kick a$$ in that race. Sometimes I get heavy legs right before I totally rock out a fast time. Keep positive! Most of all, enjoy!

Gotta turn this junk in my head into positive energy. Good, short run tomorrow. And, great time on Sunday. That's all there is to it.

Congrats on Boston Nitmos. Just read your post. You gotta figure out that cramping mess. Freakin Beardsley.

as bob marley would say "don't worry, be happy"....

you've done the training and believe it or not, you're ready to race. you can't do anything about your fitness at this stage in the game and you're just experiencing typical taper madness (if it's any consolation i'm going through the same feeling at the moment).

once the race starts, you'll be fine. just don't push it too much too soon and make sure you save something for the final three miles and the sprint finish!

good luck, have fun and stay positive!
