Day off... from work

I've made it to the point where I love a day off from work because I can run whenever I please. I know, that's pretty lame.. but true. I love the fact that I am not forced to watch TV all day because I don't have anything better to do. The run really motivates me and then I try and find the other things I have to do around the house. With that in mind... I think I'm gonna go out back and clean up some of the down branches and see if I can rake up the yard. I rarely have time for that, so my wife should be pretty happy with me.

Mini update on the weight loss "plan" (that's for you Amanda)... It's going pretty well. I really struggled the first couple days with the restricted calories. But, I think my body is starting to get used to it. I'm curious to see where I'll be at the end of the week.

I also did get the chance to go on a run.... Nothing special and it felt a little slow. I think I need a lower mileage week next week for recovery.

Run recap- 4.98 miles, 44:12, 8:52 pace

Yes, isn't it great to run whenever you please! ;-)

Which nutritional plan are you following? And how are you finding the plan you're following? What types of foods do you get to eat. Also, how often do you eat snacks & meals on this plan? Would be interested to hear more about this aspect of your weight loss plan. As you probably recall from the Nova special, the nutritionalist said that the eating portion of a person's weight loss plan is even more important than the running for sustained weight loss. Wasn't that a shocker, eh? ;-)

Perchance, have you looked into the Abs "Diet"? (You might recall me mentioning it on my blog. ;-)) It's not really a diet, per se, but it's a great medically sound nutritional plan (created by the editor of Men's Health) that focuses on good nutrition, & you even get a "cheat meal" to keep cravings in check. ;-) Both my fiancé & I are finding a lot of success with it.

Since you get 3 meals interspersed with 3 snacks, it might also make the "restricted calories" seem a lot easier, since you're eating more often & so your blood sugar level is able to stabilize.

Just thought it might be something that would interest/help you.

Sorry Corey... I can't say that I really have a "plan". That was the joke with Amanda. She asked the same question. All I'm really doing is eating a bowl of cereal for breakfast, a "SmartOnes" for lunch and a reasonable dinner. So... I'm restricting calories and run, run, running.

I've never really had a problem losing weight (sorry, I know that isn't the case for everyone). But, in the past, it was keeping it off that was the problem. I'm pretty sure that the running has solved that problem. I lost my first 30-35 pounds in the first 5 months of training. I've kept that weight off for almost 6 months now.

This new "plan" (if you can call it that) is to try and lose that last little bit that I'd like to lose. In fact, after this, I want to lose five more. But, I don't want to do it all at once.

I will look into the Abs diet. I saw it on your website. I'm going there now. From the basic of what you are saying, it is similar to what I'm doing already. I have healthy snacks throughout the day when I'm craving... carrots, mushrooms, V8... and then 3 meals a day. I like the "cheat" meal idea too. I definitely prescribe to that.
