Bdee Bdee Bdee... That's All Folks...

I've pushed and pushed... I've come up short on multiple long runs. My body is tired and beaten. And... I've got a new baby coming any day now. Phew... That feels good to let all that out. What does all this mean?

Well... I'm giving up on Harrisburg this year. It seems to have been a flawed plan all along. But... I'm finding that my heart/mind just isn't in it. And, I respect the distance far too much to believe that I can do it without being "all there". So, I just need to let it go for this year.

Funny, it doesn't even hurt that much to admit it. I think that's how I know it's the right choice. I'm still running (no race in sight). But, I'm feeling much better now that I'm not chasing. My apologies in advance if you think this is the wrong move. But... it's not. :)

I believe you should have consulted with all of us before making this decision. ;)

There's many, many races to run...events every weekend somewhere. Who cares...hit the one that fits into your schedule.

Keep on running though and think of the fantastic base you have built up for whichever future event you select!

I think it sounds like you've made the right call.

I'm already planning a couple halves. I can't let this fitness go to waste. Now that would be silly. But, I think Harrisburg would have killed me this year (schedule wise). The new kiddo is enough really. I'm not sure why I ever thought it would work.

I've been fighting (subconsciously) this decision for about a month now. But, on my long run on Sunday, I just stopped (think Forrest Gump) And, that was it. No more decision. :)

I know the disappointment that comes with the realization of not being prepared enough for a race that you've had on your calendar. It sounds like you definitely have your plate full!! And now you can FUN RUN-stress free:)

April and Andrew- Thanks for the support. It sucks, but it's the right call I believe.

This is Christy Madara's older sister Sara, I have been silently reading for a while since you're on her blog roll. I really respect your decision and understand how hard it is! I ran my first marathon this past May and 6 weeks before the race came down with walking pneumonia. I was on the fence about whether to continue my training or try again at another point. I kept going despite not running much for ten days. I finished the marathon and was elated with the accomplishment, but it was much slower than I wanted to do. I had to concede to the fact that running the marathon meant a slower time...It sounds like you made the right choice. I do love reading about your runs and am amazed by your presistence!
