Marathon training is no joke and also nothing to take lightly. But, at the same time, I think I have been making it more stressful than it needs to be. The reality is, I have upped the intensity on my training plan this time around. And, while I want to come as close to completing it as possible, I will still be ahead of the game if I fall slightly short.
So.... "it's gonna be ok". I don't need the added stress and I really just need to enjoy it. In fact, to put things in perspective, I've been seeing a bunch of my running buddies get injured. So, is it really that bad that I have to run today? As the miles build, the craziness does too. I just have to try to remember that I really do love to do this. It's hard sometimes when trying to fit it in. But, I wouldn't have it any other way.
The new mindset is "enjoy it". I'm gonna focus on getting in the miles as good as possible. But, I'm also gonna enjoy the challenge a little more and stop losing my mind if something doesn't go exactly according to schedule. There you have it... the new me.
I also got a good run in yesterday... here's the recap.
Run recap- 7.0 miles, 1:05:40, 9:23 pace

I like your new philosophy. I may just have to borrow it:)
As shall I!
I was just thinking how tough it was going to be to squeeze my run in today with my busy schedule but now I shall just do it and enjoy it.
Like it...sounds like a great plan!
Enjoy...

I'm with you on THAT one! Great way of thinking about marathon training.
To run these distance, you have to love it. Or be a little crazy. And probably both, really. Rock on.
Thanks for the comments on my blog. You have a cool blog as well!
I know what you mean about convincing yourself that you love running. For the first two years I had to will myself through the first 15-20 min until my body made the switch from burning glucose to burning fat for energy and I felt the "second wind" kick in. Stay stubborn, it gets better!
As for having someone to chase....you're on! Oh yeah....I'm up to 573 miles. (I don't update the mileage on my blog every day. More like a weekly thing)
Keep up the running and the blogging!
To answer your question, no I've never run Baltimore before. I signed up this year because the organizers also do the Frederick Marathon. This year they had a deal, run Frederick and Baltimore and get three medals! One for each individual marathon and one for running both in the same year. Two marathons, three medals. Hard to pass that one up.
I may sign up late for Harrisburg too. I'll see how I feel after Baltimore.
That's pretty sweet... Not sure if you have read this guy's blog (http://www.runbulldogrun.com/), but he finished in 3rd in this year's frederick marathon. He's cymrusteve in the comments above.
Let me know if you decide to run Harrisburg, I know a small little group running. Anyhow, good luck with the training.
