Maps? Who uses maps? Suckers...

Ok... I have to admit, this post is long overdue. But, today, I am a runner. Or, at least that is what Nate would have me believe. I ordered the Garmin Forerunner 205 last week (my wife "got it for me" for my birthday/graduation). Yes, I do realize there is a 405 coming out shortly. But, with one small child and another on the way, I just can't justify that kind of dough for a nice new toy. But, the 205 was manageable. So... it is supposed to arrive at work tomorrow. The irony of this all is that I am running on the track tomorrow. So, I don't even really NEED it. But, I'm probably gonna use it anyway.

Today was my last satellite free run in the foreseeable future. Unless, of course, the battery dies right before a run (I'm told this happens). Yikes!! Then what do I do? Oh yeah, right... what I've been doing for the last 15 months. Very cool. I'm so excited. I'm dubbing this the year of the satellite. I got a GPS for my car from my mom and a GPS for my running from my wife. What's next? If I can get my GPS to do my homework tonight, I'll be in the clear. Until then, I'm not actually graduated. One paper down, one to go. Better get typing, can't afford another night like last night (up until 2 am).

My last run pre Garmin- 3.23 miles, 27:15, 8:27 pace

Who told you that? Surely everyone makes sure their Garmin is charged before a run, especially a run as important as a marathon...

Good luck on the track tomorrow. Look after the legs and I'm sure the lungs will be fine too. Can't wait to read all about it,

PS Enjoy the 205! Are you going to upload to MotionBased too?

Wow... no idea about Motionbased (I would assume I will). Can't wait to get all geeked out with the Garmin. Gotta figure out how to manage my logs through runningahead and Motionbased. I'm down for any advice.

Nate... this means you too.

Congratulations! That's awesome and I'm jealous.

After 3 days without meaningful data to analyze life becomes meaningless.

Welcome to running, we have been waiting for you.

I have the 205 and love it. The battery is supposed to last for 10 hours on a full charge so you should be fine as long as you don't use it a whole bunch of times without charging it.

Also, you'll want to make sure that you have satellite radio and satellite TV just to round out the Year of the Satellite.

Oooo enjoy! Everyone on CRN that doesn't already own one seems to be purchasing a Garmin this week! I am soooo tempted to get one it's ridiculous.

Me thinks you're going to love your Garmin...

One advice is use SportsTracks to log your runs. It's way better than MotionBased. Just my opinion.

Enjoy your new toy!

My 305 came in the mail yesterday. I was stoked! I could already tell once you go Garmin, there'll be no going back. I mean seriously, who runs without one? Pfft, losers. ;)

Laminator... What do you like about SportsTracks over Motionbased? I haven't pledged my allegiance anywhere yet.
