Wow... I continue to amaze myself with my own stupidity. As always, I had my running shoes sitting out where they weren't supposed to be. And, I was staring down at them from above. What did I see? A white line down the left side of my left shoe (not coincidentally, my injured foot). The sole is solid blue and there was a line where the back left side of my left foot was spilling over. What does this mean? In my head, it means that my new(ish) New Balance are too narrow. My mainstays for the marathon training never had this problem. Hmmm...
So, I am planning on keeping my appointment on Thursday to ask the doc if I need orthotics. But, in the meantime, I am going to go back to my Asics.
I also got my first run of the new year in (so much for not running). Here's a recap.

Yes! It's the shoes. I tried Addidas two years ago and developed these criminal foot pains. I couldn't figure out what the problem was ... until I dumped those for a pair of Asics. Never looked back.
Saw your post on heel pain, and I am too lazy/don't have time right now to trace the original or your complaint. Just wanted to throw in my two cents:
I broke my heel, a minor fracure as these things go, a few years back. I tried working through it, the heel should have healed within a few months but it took a very long time for me to go without feeling like it was still busted.
I finally got some professional advice and was told to do some basic stretching of the foot, I really needed to stick with it, they were easy strecthes but I needed to do them every day. Have you looked into that?
